picture this. It's Wednesday afternoon and your energy is tanking and you've got three important business tasks staring at you instead of scrolling on your phone hoping that motivation will magically appear, you do one tiny thing. Maybe it's lighting your favorite candle or reading your business mission statement out loud, or just writing down one win from yesterday and suddenly you're moving. That's the power of micro motivators, and today I am sharing how these tiny habits can create unstoppable momentum in your business.

Speaker:

Welcome back to Thrive in Five, where I give you a quick burst of motivation and productivity in five minutes or less. I'm Cindy, your host, a self-made entrepreneur, busy mom, and a business coach. I've built and sold several digital businesses ranging from five to six figure successes. So when it comes to managing time and priorities in both life and work, I get it. I've been there and I am here to help you thrive.

Let's be real about something. As entrepreneurs, we are constantly waiting for the motivation to show up. Like some kind of productivity fairy. You tell yourself you'll work on that important task when you feel inspired, or you'll reach out to potential clients when you're feeling a little more confident. Meanwhile, days turn into weeks and those needle moving activities keep getting pushed aside. I see this all the time. You know what you should be doing, following up with leads, creating content building systems, but you are stuck in this weird limbo where nothing feels urgent enough to start yet. Everything feels overwhelming. You end up doing busy work that makes you feel more productive, but it doesn't actually move your business forward. Here's what I wish that someone would've told me years ago. Motivation isn't a feeling you wait for, it's a response that you can trigger, and the easiest way to trigger it is tiny habits that your brain can't resist. So here's the fascinating thing about how our brains work. They are designed to resist big changes, but embrace tiny ones. So when you think about writing an entire blog post, your brain sees a threat and creates resistance. But when you think about opening your laptop and typing one sentence, well, your brain thinks that feels manageable, micro motivators work because they bypass your brain's resistance system. Instead of relying on willpower, which let's be honest, is pretty unreliable when you're running a business and managing life. You create automatic triggers that generate momentum before your brain knows what's happening. I learned this the hard way when I was building one of my first businesses. I had grand plans to work for hours, but then I'd get overwhelmed and do nothing. The breakthrough came when I started with ridiculously small actions like opening my business planning notebook to the right page while I had my morning coffee. That tiny action led to reading my goals, which led to writing down one priority, which led to actually working on it, here's how I help my clients build micro motivators that actually work using my reality check method. Because you've got this, you just need to see what this. Actually is step one, identify your motivation killers. First, we need a reality check about what is actually stopping you do a quick brain dump of the moments when your motivation dies. Is it after lunch? When your energy crashes? Is it when you sit down at your desk and see a messy workspace? Is it when you think about all the things you should be doing, write these down because you can't fix what you won't acknowledge. Step two, choose your needle moving micro motivator. Now pick one tiny action that consistently moves you towards your business goal. Not five things, not a whole morning routine, but just one micro motivator. Maybe it's reading your mission statement while you drink coffee, or writing down three business priorities on a sticky note, or putting out a specific playlist that gets you into the work mode. The key is it has to take less than two minutes and feel automatic. Step three, anchor it to something you already do. So a lot of times this magic is called habit stacking. So you're going to attach your micro motivator to an existing habit, for example. After I pour my morning coffee, I will read my business vision out loud. Or before I check my email, I will write down my top priority for the day. Your existing habits become the trigger for your new motivation boost. Let me share with you how I make this stick in my real life and how you can make it stick in yours. The key is to first start ridiculously small. I mean, embarrassingly small. If you want to be more consistent with your content creation, for example, don't commit to writing a whole post. Commit to opening your notes app and writing one sentence about what you're grateful for in your business. Success breeds success and your brain needs quick wins. Second, track your micro motivator for just one week. Put a simple check mark on your calendar when you do it. This isn't about perfection, this is about awareness, your training, your brain to notice when you follow through on commitments to yourself. And finally, celebrate those tiny wins. When you complete your micro motivator, acknowledge it. Say to yourself, I did that. I did it. Give yourself a mental high five. This might sound silly, but you are literally rewiring your brain to associate these small actions with positive feelings, here's what I want you to remember. You don't need massive motivation to build a successful business. You need tiny, consistent actions that compound over time. When you build micro motivators, you are not just creating habits, you are proving to yourself that you are someone that follows through your business. Doesn't need to feel motivating every single day. It needs you to show up even when you don't feel like it. And micro motivators can make that showing up almost effortless. But here's the truth, you've got this. You just need to know exactly what this is, and sometimes this is just lighting a candle or this could be writing down one priority. So friend, go pick your micro motivator and start your tiny habits revolution. You've got this.
