feeling overwhelmed by everything on your list. In this Thrivent five, I'll show you how to use the three minute rule to knock out small tasks, clear mental clutter, and build real momentum in your day. Let's talk about a tool that's used for reducing overwhelm and building momentum. It's called the Three Minute Rule, and here's how it works. If a task takes three minutes or less, do it immediately. No, writing it down, no overthinking. Just do it. It might seem simple, but this one rule can clear more mental clutter than you realize. Here's why it matters. We often get stuck in a cycle of thinking about doing something more than we actually do it. You know those little tasks like replying to a quick email, scheduling an appointment, refilling your water, tossing your laundry from the washer to the dryer. These tasks are not hard, but they sit in the back of your mind. Taking up space, slowing your brain down and making your to-do list feel heavier than it really is. When you apply the three minute rule, you instantly lighten your mental load. You build trust with yourself. You stop procrastinating and you start acting, and that my friend, is where momentum begins. Here are some ways that you can use it throughout your day. Empty your inbox with one to two line replies. Clean off your desk. Prep your workspace or water bottle, add a quick note in your planner or calendar, each small task is like a mental check mark that says, I'm showing up for myself today. You'll be amazed at how these tiny wins boost your focus, clarity, and energy. This works because most overwhelm comes from clutter, whether it's mental or physical clutter. The three minute rule is your personal decluttering system. It's fast, easy, and it creates instant relief. While building momentum, one quick win leads to another, and that momentum leads to results. If you would like to implement this immediately, here are your action steps. Set a timer and knock out five things that take three minutes or less. Post a sticky note that says a three minute rule in your workspace to remind yourself and check in every few hours and ask, is there a quick task that I can clear out right now? Your brain will feel lighter and your list will shrink, and you'll be creating winds that compound over time. You've got this.
