If you've been juggling five things at once, but never feel like you're finishing anything, this one's for you. In today's Thrive in Five, I'm sharing why focusing on one task at a time is the fastest way to maintain momentum and how to actually do it in your everyday routine. Welcome back to Thrive in Five, where I give you a quick burst of motivation and productivity in five minutes or less. I'm Cindy, your host, a self-made entrepreneur, busy mom, and a business coach. I've built and sold several digital businesses ranging from five to six figure successes. So when it comes to managing time and priorities in both life and work, I get it. I've been there and I am here to help you thrive. Let's have a moment of truth. Have you ever sat down to do work, opened up your laptop, picked up your phone, checked your email, started a to-do list, and somehow 45 minutes have passed and nothing has actually been done. Yep. Same here. And that's the trap of multitasking. We've been told that multitasking is efficient, but here's the truth. It is a momentum killer. Switching from one task to another over and over drains mental energy and keeps you from ever getting into the flow. So here's why single tasking works and how to use it to boost your focus and finish what you start. First off, your brain works best in focus bursts. Studies show that every time you switch tasks, your brain takes several minutes to refocus, so let that one sink in. That means the more you multitask, the more time you actually waste. But when you give one task your full attention, you get way more done in less time, and you feel way more accomplished afterwards. Momentum builds with clarity. Third use time blocks to support your focus. Try working in short distraction free windows like a 25 minute Pomodoro session. Set a timer. Turn your phone on, do not disturb, and commit to one task. This keeps your brain on track and helps you train the muscle of deep work. This works because Singletasking helps you protect your energy. Avoid decision fatigue and stay emotionally connected to what you are working on. It's not about productivity, it's about peace, and you'll get more done and feel less scattered. So your action steps for today to implement this. Is to choose one task to focus fully on in your next work session. Set the timer for 25 to 30 minutes and eliminate as many distractions as possible. Notice how much calmer and more productive you feel when you stay present. Multitasking steals your energy. Singletasking builds momentum, so let's commit to one thing at a time and finish strong.
